Items taxed, per this volume, are- White males age 21-50, Gold and Silver watches, Gold safety of fob chains, clocks of wood or metal, amount of jewelry, plate, household funiture including paintings other than family portraits, playing cards, slaves, free blacks and mulattos, pleasure carriages and harnesses, coaches, stages, hacks, and similar, saddle or harness horses, race horses, horses or jacks, stud horses and jackasses, annual income of lawyers, doctors, dentists, gross income of foreign insurance companies doing business in this state, gross income of cotton, gross sales merchandise, fixed salaries, capital stocks, commissions, receipts of cotton pickeries, proceeds of annual auction sales, toll bridges, turnpikes and ferries, neat cattle over 20 head, interest on moneys loaned or bills, illegal interest, steam boats, and funds for slaves executed.
