Bankester Cemetery
Bromley, Baldwin County, Alabama
The Bankester cemetery is located in the Bromley community in Baldwin County. From Spanish Fort, Alabama take Hwy. 225 some 5 miles until you see Bromley Rd. to the right. Turn down this road, the pavement will turn into dirt, and go some 6 miles until you see Dolive Road. Turn down this road and go a ½ mile until you see a narrow dirt road to the right. The Cemetery is down this narrow road.
This cemetery is kept up by the Perkins family in nearby Stapleton, Alabama. There are a lot of graves that are marked by wooden stubs, white wooden crosses and blank slabs. The oldest marked grave in the cemetery is that of John Howell who died in 1883. Most of the graves in the cemetery are of the Bankester family of Baldwin County and their relations.

The Hadley Cemetery
Located off Baldwin County, Alabama hiway 61 about 3 1/2 miles south of
junction at hiway 59. At the 3 1/2 mile point enter a log road off
hiway 61, just south, across the road from Hooper Matthew's barn and
small pecan orchard. Go about 150 yards south turning west. Go
westerly about 400 yards. Cemetery located on right about 75 feet in
woods. As you walk towards the cemetery first are two graves in an iron
wrought fence. These are- John Benjamin Hadley, born Dec-04-1853 died Aug-06-1884, the
son of John Hadley and Nellie Johnson. The other is the grave in the enclosure is John Benjamin and Sarah
Cruit Hadley's infant son. Sarah miscarried when notified at the time
of husband's death. North of this enclosure are 7 graves in line facing east. Each marked
with a head and foot stone at least 1 foot in length and width. It is
evident all the stones came from a same location. The first grave to the (south) has 2 side stones on the south side and
at the other grave seventh (north) are 2 more stones to the north side.
The fifth grave or center grave- Benjamin (Ben) Hadley's grave born
1760 died 1830. He is the son of Thomas Hadley and Mary Thompson of NC. Ben
is the first Hadley to come to this area. At his feet is another large
stone. This is where Ben's servant and slave is buried.
Next and number four to the south of Ben's grave is a child's grave.
Next number three to that grave is Betty Kenderson Hadley, Ben's spouse
born 1778 died Mar-10-1825. That leaves 2 adult graves south of Betty
and 2 graves north of Ben's. Not known which one is which but one is-
Julia Johnson born 1814 died 1844, the spouse of Jesse Hadley. Believed
to be the daughter of Isaac Johnson and Susan Bates.
The other is-
Elizabeth Stewart born Jan-30-1880 died Feb-16-1873, the spouse of
James Marion Hadley. The daughter of John P. Stewart and Mary Unknown.
The other 2 graves remain unknown but may give some hint as to where
Jane Hadley Boon born 1808, daughter of Ben and Mary, may be buried.
Another aspect to be considered is it was said Julia Johnson and spouse
Jesse Hadley had several children to die when young. The only other
remaining solution- which is far fetched but may have been Frederick
Hadley that is listed on a Georgia passport that came with Benjamin to
the area in the early 1800's Any information about Frederick has never
been found since then.
