King, William Ralph

Ramer, Ala.

Mr. William Ralph King, 72, a resident of Ramer, went to be with his Lord and Redeemer on Friday, Apr. 29, 2005. Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, in the chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Russ Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Born on Mar. 16, 1933, the son of Hiram D. (Buddy) and Callie Ann Davis King, he enjoyed a long and rewarding career of over 26 years with the United States Air Force. Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Mack, Hiram Jr., Ray and Roy; and three sisters, Vera, Ruby and Agnes. He was a devoted and awesome brother, husband, father and grandfather. Mr. King leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Norma Briggs King; two sons, Donald (Jutta) King and Michael (Donna) King; a daughter, Faith (Ronny) Lawson; six grandchildren, Kristi Chapman, Joshua King, Tom Kula, Tiffany Green, Katy and Ryan Lawson; three sisters, Lois Lansdon, Mary Summerlin and Ruth Dean. He is also survived by four nieces, eight nephews and several other loving family members. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1 p.m. until service time.

Mrs. Jane F. Wells, 56, a resident of Luverne, died on
Saturday, Apr. 23, 2005. Funeral services will be held on
Wednesday, April 27, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Turner
Funeral Home with Lee Jamieson officiating. Burial will
follow in Old Providence Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home
of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Wells is survived by two children, Craig (Brenda) Wells
and Clifton Wells of Luverne; five grandchildren, Valerie,
Mary Dawn, C.J., Keshia and Katie; and four brothers, Roger
Furr, Charles Furr and George Furr, all of Montgomery; and
James Furr of Luverne.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 26 from 6-8
p.m. at the funeral home.


 

Jackson, Lila Lee

Glenwood, Ala.

Mrs. Lila Lee Jackson, 77, a resident of Glenwood, died on
Friday Apr. 22, 2005. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m.
Monday April 25, from White Rock Cemetery, Henderson, with
the Rev. W.O. Sanders officiating and Turner Funeral Home of
Luverne directing.

Mrs. Jackson is preceded in death by her husband, Wendell B.
Jackson.

Survivors include three children, Butch (Ha) Jackson and
John (Bonnie) Jackson, both of Loganville, Ga.; and Sharon
Mayfield of Richardson, Texas; seven grandchildren and four
great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday
from 6-8 p.m.



 

Burnside, Dorothy Benbow

Mrs. Dorothy Benbow Burnside
San Antonio, Texas

Mrs. Dorothy Benbow Burnside, 86, died on Wednesday, Apr.
20, 2005. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on
Tuesday, April 26, in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with the Rev.
Jesse Evans officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne
directing.

Mrs. Burnside was born and raised in Luverne, and attended
Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga. She made her home in Atlanta
for almost 40 years where she was active in the Methodist
Church and a number of community organizations. She moved to
San Antonio, Texas, in 1986 and was a member of the Trinity
United Methodist Church. Before becoming ill she also
enjoyed attending the Northwest Seniors and Forest Oaks
Garden Club meetings in Leon Valley, Texas.

Mrs. Burnside learned to play the piano as a child and
continued to be an avid pianist throughout her life. One of
her other loves was travel, and she made many trips within
the United States, to Europe and Mexico with family and
friends.

Mrs. Burnside is survived by her son and daughter-in-law,
Hal and Rita Freitag Burnside; two nieces, Amy Clark Paul
and Caroline Clark Claveria; a nephew, Charles E. Clark; a
grandniece; grandnephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on
Tuesday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial
donations may be made to one's favorite charity.


Taylor, Esther Lee

Mrs. Esther Lee Taylor, 74, a resident of Luverne died on
Monday Apr. 18, 2005. Funeral services will be held on
Thursday, April 21, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Turner
Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Nolens and the Rev. James
Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Brunson Chapel
Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Taylor is preceded in death by her husband, Robert
Taylor; a daughter, Lisha K. Taylor; and a son, Michael Adam
Taylor.

Survivors include two sons, Don (Tommye Faye) Taylor,
Prattville; and Ricky Taylor, Jack; six grandchildren,
Cassandra (Bradley) White, Thomas (Brandy) Taylor, Robert
Taylor, Tim Taylor, Jesse Taylor and Derek Taylor; two great
grandchildren, Trevin and Rylan Taylor; five sisters, Lovie
(Roy) Nichols, Dovie (Clermon) Smith, Bea (Jimmy) Taylor,
Voncille Bradley and Louise Dyess; one brother, John Henry
(Claudia) Tidwell; and two very special friends, Zera Merle
Carnes and Lucenda Adams.

Active pallbearers will be Thomas Taylor, Robert Taylor, Tim
Taylor, Jesse Taylor, Derek Taylor and Joe Tidwell.

Milton, Robert Thompson

Rutledge, Ala.

Mr. Robert Thompson Milton, 83, a resident of Rutledge,
passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Apr. 19, 2005 at the home
of his daughter Susie in Farragut, Tenn. Funeral services
will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at Siloam
Baptist Church with the Rev. William Leverette officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with a Masonic
service to be conferred by the Luverne Masonic Lodge #630 F
& A M with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Thompson was of the Baptist faith, and a 50-plus year
member of Black Rock Masonic Lodge. He was also a veteran of
World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a long time
cattleman and an award-winning chicken farmer until his
health declined in 1998.

Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee
Milton in 2000; a brother, Dempsey; and a sister, Sarah
Frances Lawson.

Survivors include his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Joy
L. and Curtis Phelps, Orlando, Fla; and Susie and Rich
Cataldi, Farragut, Tenn.; six grandchildren; 10 great
grandchildren; his brother Charles Milton of Greenville, and
a son in Wetumpka.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on
Friday, April 22, from 6-8 p.m. The body will lie in state
at the church for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.


Bass, Grace P.

Mrs. Grace P. Bass, 83, a resident of Rutledge, died on
Monday, Apr. 18, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 10
a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, at the Luverne Church of God
with the Rev. Bobby Stone and the Rev. Steve Defee
officiating. Burial will follow in Rutledge Cemetery with
Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Bass is preceded in death by her husband, James Bernell
Bass; a daughter, Marcella Grissett; and two grandsons, Tony
Rayburn and Ronnie Sexton.

Survivors include nine children, Richard (Beth) Bass, John
(Wanda) Bass, James (Christy) Bass, Bobby (Lea) Bass, Dany
(Billy) Garner, Hazel Bass, Sue (Larry) Posey, Mary
Berdeaux, and Lilly Bannin; 37 grandchildren; 40 great
grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and Buttons;
two sisters, Flora Milton and Elizabeth Graydon; numerous
nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Jamie Bannin, Mike Tisdale, Bobby
N. Bass, Charlie R. Berdeaux, Jeffrey Pippin and Keith
Deffee.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on
Tuesday, April 19, from 5:30-7 p.m.

Susie Kate Caldwell

Mrs. Susie Kate Caldwell, 69, a resident of Luverne passed
away on Monday, April 18, 2005. Funeral services will be
held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2005 from the chapel
of Turner Funeral Home of Luverne with Rev. J. L. Jones
officiating. Interment will follow in Darien Cemetery with
Turner Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Turner is survived by her three children, Terry (JoAnn)
Messick of Troy, Brenda (Waylon) Sanders of Evans, Georgia
and Joy (Steve) Burgans of Luverne; seven grandchildren,
Dawn, Todd, Jonathan, Theresa, Zakk, Dillion and Jaya; two
great-grandchildren, Matthew and Carson; four sisters, Mary
King, Peggy Duncan, Becky Duncan and Debbie Creel and two
brothers, Charles Simmons and Randy Simmons.

Active pallbearers will be Todd Messick, Jonathan Sanders,
Floyd Wright, Tony Duncan, Danny Ray Duncan, William
Simmons, Mark Simmons and Lee Simmons.

Luther G. Dueitt Jr.

Pigeon Creek - Luther G. Dueitt Jr., 66, passed away
Wednesday, March 30, 2005. Funeral services were held
Saturday, April 2, at 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Home Baptist
Church with the Rev. Richard Oswald officiating. Interment
followed in the Pleasant Home Cemetery with Harrison Funeral
Home directing.

Henderson, Floy Beasley

Luverne, Ala. Mrs. Floy Beasley, 82, a resident of Luverne, died on
Sunday, Apr. 10, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday,
April 12, at Sardis Church of Christ with Charles Sipper and Allen
Ammons officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery with Turner
Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Henderson is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Henderson;
four brothers; and one sister.


Best, Virtlean White

Montgomery, Ala. Mrs. Virtlean White Best, 86, a resident of
Montgomery, died on Sunday, Mar. 27, 2005. Funeral services were held on
Wednesday, March 30, at Sardis Church of Christ with Brother Jack Cates
officiating. Burial followed in Sardis Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of
Luverne directing.

Mrs. Best is preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Best; one son,
Billy Best; her parents, Jim and Alice Beasley White; three sisters,
Mattie Bell Best, Myrtis Thomas, and Cora Lee Owens; and four brothers, J.C.
White, Condy White, Nathan White, and A.D. White.


Farrior, Francis

Luverne, Ala. Mr. Francis Farrior, 77, a resident of Luverne, died on
Wednesday, Mar. 23, 2005. Funeral services were held on Friday, March
25, in the chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. William Leverette
officiating. Burial followed in Live Oak Cemetery with Turner Funeral
Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Farrior is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Annie
Farrior and three brothers, Clifford, Calvin, and Kenneth Farrior.

Luverne, Ala. Mr. Joe Frost, 74, a resident of Luverne, died on
Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, at
10 a.m., in the chapel of Turner Funeral Home with John Dickinson and
Lee Jamieson officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery with
Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Frost is preceded in death by his parents, A.D. and Versie Frost; a
sister, Blanche Ann Owens; and a brother, Emmett Ray Frost.


Farrior, Ellie Rue Owens

Highland Home, Ala. Mrs. Ellie Rue Owens, 89, a resident of Highland
Home, die on Thursday, Mar. 31, 2005. Funeral services will be held on

Charles Sipper, John Dickinson and the Rev. Graham Jarrell officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of

Mrs. Farrior is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Farrior;
parents, Oscar and Eugenia Owens; sister, Ruthie Mae Bozeman; and
brother, Willard Owens.


Mount, James E.

Luverne, Ala. Mr. James E. Mount, 85, a resident of
Luverne, died on Monday, Apr. 11, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 2
p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, in the chapel of Turner Funeral Home with
ministers Jerry Davidson and Lee Jamieson officiating. Burial will
follow in Sardis Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Mount is survived by his wife of 64 years, Allene B. Mount; his
children, Sally (Paul) Creel and Annette (Lamar) Chandler,
Luverne; his grandchildren, Randi, Ricky, Regina, Danielle,
Laura and Megan; one sister, Merle (Hosea) Tidwell, Montgomery; two
brothers, Julius (Nell) Mount, Greenville; and Lamar T. (Beverly) Mount Sr.,
Sturgis, Mich.; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
