Hillary "Red" Harville was born about 1856 in the Milo Community of Pike County, Alabama and died 1940 in
Dozier, Crenshaw County, Alabama. Red married Savannah Hicks in Pike County about1876. Savannah was a
daughter of Newton Hicks and Nancy Anglin. She was born March 1860 in Pike County and died December 1922
in the Leon Community near Dozier in Crenshaw County, Alabama. From what little information I can find on
Hillary Harville he was possibly a son of Alfred Harville, I do know that his mother was Emiline Teal. Hillary and his family left Pike County and where in Baldwin County of South Alabama in the 1880 census. I believe they were living in Crenshaw County as early as 1900 but have not been able to find them in the census records. I do know that from 1910 to the time of Hillary Harville's death he was residing in the Leon Community, about 7 miles west of Dozier. He died at home in Leon which was located behind the present day Free Will Baptist Church. Hillary was known as "Red" for his auburn red hair. He and his wife Savannah were known to be living in the home with his
daughter Amanda Lavada "Mandy" Harville-Dean, wife of Robert Marion Dead sometime after1920. Savannah had a stroke and became partially paralyzed. Later, Hillary took Savannah out of their home and moved into the
home of Alby Dean (Robert Marion Dean's brother). Alby married Trudie Harville, daughter of Hillary and
Savannah. Not long after they moved, Savannah passed away in the night. The next day Hillary took her body
and carried her to the Good Hope Cemetery in Covington County, Alabama to be buried.

Please note that throughout the census records beginning in 1870 that the name of Harville has also been spelled Harvel, Harvell and Harvill.
