***Dr. Willis Roberts was the personal secretary of Gov. William
Wyatt Bibb, first governor of Alabama. He owned a store in Cahaba also as well
as a newspaper there. He lost the election for Alabama State Treasurer by 20
votes. He helped build the Mobile City Hospital in 1830 and was its first superintendent.
Tombstone reads, per Ray, died Dec 23rd, aged 74 years.He owned the Mobile DAILY
CHRONICLE which he published several years. Mirabeau Bonaparte Lamar, former
president of the Republic of Texas, lived with Willis Roberts in Mobile in 1850.
His son Samuel Alexander Roberts was the Secretary of State for the Republic
of Texas. Asenath Alexander Roberts was the daughter of Col. Samuel Alexander,
